Our new biodegradable Darnel BIO® straws are highly durable and maintain their shape when in contact with liquids, eliminating the need to provide customers with more than one due to product deformation, thus optimizing inventory and service quality. Additionally, thanks to their material, they don’t fall apart or leave residues in drinks, allowing the original flavor to be preserved. This offers a clear advantage over other paper substitutes that often disintegrate in liquids, altering both the texture and flavor of the beverage.
Moreover, they are the most affordable biodegradable option on the market, accessible to all budgets.
This innovation is the result of five years of work by our Research and Development teams to create a new line of products made for the first time from biodegradable plastic that is also 100% recyclable. This means that when disposed of in the appropriate recycling bin, they can be recycled into new products.
They are formulated to biodegrade by at least 85% in less than 48 months in biologically active landfills, according to the ASTM D5511 test method. However, if disposed of incorrectly, they will still biodegrade in terrestrial or marine environments.

Our straws are available in two different diameters to suit various types of beverages. The larger diameter is perfect for thick drinks with chunks or solids, such as milkshakes or smoothies, allowing the contents to flow through more easily. The smaller diameter is ideal for lighter liquids like juices, sodas, lemonades, or flavored waters. Both options are also available in two sizes to fit the glasses in which the drinks are served.
